Practical training is an essential part of becoming a Skipperi member, designed to ensure you’re confident and prepared to use our boats safely. Whether you’re an experienced boater or a first-timer, the session will be tailored to meet your skill level.
Who Is the Training For?
- Experienced Boaters: If you already have boating experience, the session will focus on Skipperi-specific procedures, boat features, and any local navigation guidelines.
- Inexperienced Boaters: If you’re new to boating, the session will provide hands-on instruction to build your confidence in basic operations, safety, and navigation.
What Will You Learn?
During the training, your instructor will cover:
- Boat Basics
- Operating the boat (starting, stopping, and maneuvering).
- Using the Skipperi app to check in, check out, and report damages.
- Familiarization with boat features and equipment.
- Safety Procedures
- Life jacket usage and other safety equipment.
- Docking, anchoring, and emergency protocols.
- Navigation
- Reading navigation charts and markers.
- Understanding no-wake zones and local waterway rules.
- Environmental Responsibility
- Best practices for protecting the marine environment while boating.
Session Format
- Duration: Approximately 1 to 2 hours (depending on experience).
- Location: Training will take place at the Boathouse in Hilton Head.
- Group Size: Sessions are usually small to allow personalized guidance
After the Training
Once you successfully complete your practical training:
- Your Skipperi membership will be fully activated.
- You’ll have access to the boat reservation system and can start enjoying your boating adventures.
